FRIDAY August 17th FALCONS vs HOUNDS SCRIMMAGE

This evening was a treat for our midget league teams; being able to play their first scrimmage of the season against the Falcons. The two teams squared off at the Monessen stadium and had it out until dark. This was much needed experience for both teams who, for most of the game, escaped with out injury give one or two banged knees and a cleat stomped hand. For the most part, these two teams played great. A few dropped balls on the snap for our boys, and a few missed tackles by theirs. Monessen had a pretty solid defense against the Falcons though their quarterback managed to get in a few nice passes and gain some yards. Monessen mainly ran the ball, practicing their hand-offs and running game. This wasn't a real game so no scores are reported here. However if scores were kept, I would have to say the Falcons came out ahead this time. Great job boys. Down the field played both Falcon and Hound Flag teams. The little ones seemed to enjoy the cool evening and had loads of fun. It was pretty hard to concentrate on anything else. These two teams were screaming and yelling and really cheering each other on. "They sound like an NFL crowd over there." said one spectator. "Can't wait to see what a real game is like."

This speedy fella, pictured on the right, caught the ball and charged down the field only to be stopped by the Monessen defense. He was hit pretty hard and was one of the injuries of the evening. After taking a knee by both teams he was up and accepting the cheers from his family and teammates. Great job #7

Was a bit cloudy today, and it actually started to rain for a bit. Didn't get a lot of images but this one of number 62 was pretty great! Got him jumping for the ball. If anyone knows the name of this outstanding athlete please send an email to monessen-sports@azmyth.com I'd love to post his name.
